These rights are laid down in various internationally agreed laws and documents such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and its optional protocols. Respect for these rights is a prerequisite for the well-being of children. In a situation of armed conflict the rights of children are likely to be severely violated.
War Child acknowledges the principles of the UNCRC as the foundation of its child centered programming. War Child raises awareness on the scope, content and implications of the UNCRC among children, families, communities, governments and the international community; and advocates for the realization, protection of and respect for children’s rights.
