Increased life skills and livelihood skills of children

Conflict challenges children’s abilities to develop life skills, and disrupts their possibilities to acquire livelihood skills, through which they can support themselves in the future. Life skills and livelihood skills are strongly interrelated and are a prerequisite for self-sustainability and a stable life. Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life (such as communication, interaction, dealing with emotions). Livelihood skills are essential for young people to create a means of economic support or subsistence (such as vocational training, literacy and numeracy classes or use of ICT).
War Child stimulates training of children, focusing on life skills and livelihood skills, which are relevant and applicable to their particular context.
