War Child in the Netherlands
Bookmark and Share
Millions of children grow up in war zones and other violent environments (“conflict areas”). War Child Holland aspires to create a peaceful future for these children. We invest in children who participate in our Holland programmes in conflict-torn nations and also involve children and adults in the Netherlands in the issue of war children.

Public education & knowledge sharing
War Child Holland informs and activates the Dutch public through the Internet, events and articles in the media. Further, a network of enthusiastic, expert, information officer volunteers provide classes, lectures and workshops at schools, in companies, clubs and other institutions in order to keep as many people as possible informed about the situations in which children of war live.

In addition to educating the Dutch public, War Child also shares knowledge as well as positioning itself as an expert organisation in the field of children in conflict areas with interested Professionals, other aid organisations, universities and colleges, centres of knowledge and platforms. Together with several universities, War Child researched the effects of its work, on the basis of which reports and articles were written.

In 2007, War Child reached a vast public by means of various publications, the organisation of events and free publicity, in which the Child Soldiers Campaign drew the greatest attention. It contributed to War Child’s reliability and expertise in the field of children in conflict areas and child soldiers.

Fundraising
War Child’s work is made possible thanks to the contributions of many donors, firms and diverse resources. War Child consciously chooses to keep our sources of income diverse to prevent dependency on just one resource or a small group of sponsors. Working through the experiences of war and enhancing a child’s wellbeing- that is to say, reconstructing a community - takes time. With both individuals and firms we strive for a long-term relationship in order to be able to finance projects in conflict areas for an extended period.

In the coming years War Child wishes to further intensify its growth. There are still many conflict areas where children really need War Child's help. In the field, War Child has the ability and ambition to grow, in order to help other children. To achieve this, income from the general public in the Netherlands, the largest source of War Child's income, will need to grow. The involvement and growth of this support from the Netherlands must be enlarged through clear and transparent communication on the situation of children living in war-affected areas and the work that War Child does.
