Child Rights – a child protection framework
Bookmark and Share
War Child’s programming always incorporates the highest concern for the well-being of children and young people. Article 38 of the UNCRC deals with the protection and care of children affected by armed conflict. During and after conflict, children should be entitled to special attention due to the specific nature of their childhood. War Child uses various strategies to support these children directly or through capacity building.

In addition, War Child raises awareness on children’s rights within the communities, and tries to ensure that policies, laws, attitudes and practices protect children’s well-being. War Child believes that those responsible for the violations of children’s rights must be held accountable. Governments are the primary duty bearers in ensuring that children’s rights in general are respected. Parents and communities are duty bearers towards their own children and the International Community has a responsibility to support all duty bearers in their efforts.
