Photography for Childrens Rights
In recent years, War Child Colombia has used photography as a means to raise attention for the violation of children’s rights. Taking pictures is an active and creative way for children to visualize their rights. And, more importantly, a way to visualize how these rights are violated.

Exchange visit
As War Child Colombia supports local projects that use photography as a method, they have a lot of experience with the approach. In June 2009 War Child Colombia visited War Child Sierra Leone to implement the ‘Photography for Children’s Rights’ initiative in projects in Sierra Leone. Children from different communities in the Bombali district took photos to image their situation. The pictures were presented to villagers and policy, to advocate for the importance to establish and maintain functional ‘Child Welfare Committees’. These committees help to stop the violation of children’s rights.

Special report
War Child War Child Colombia and Sierra Leone look back on a valuable exchange. They have made a special report about their successful visit, including a lot of photos.
