Programme description Sudan

War Child established a programme (2004 – 2006) for children, youth and adults in and around Khartoum
(North), and Malakal, Yei and Juba (
South). The program was changed in 2007 to emphasize the protection of children by engaging relevant adults in constructing a safe environment (in the broadest sense of protection) in which children can grow and develop. The target groups were refined to street children, children not attending schools (living in prison or orphanages), and children in IDP camps.
Much of the project delivery was achieved through the local Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) and Non Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) partners. Through the identification of five issues for the protection of children and the development of local implementation plans around these issues, they have improved protection for children in IDP camps and street children, reducing family violence and increasing education possibilities for children.
War Child is active in Sudan since 1998.
