Sierra Leone Partnership Developments for War Child in 2008:
- Local NGOs Youth Action for Self Reliance (Yasser) and Praise Foundation have provided technical support for the implementation of Livelihood skills training.
- Youth organizations Child Forum Network (Makeni) and Kids Arise (Port Loko) have been sponsored by WCH-SL to organize events and activities around international Child Rights Day in Freetown, Makeni and Port Loko town.
- War Child has been a member of the Child Rights Coalition, partnering with like-minded NGOs such as Save the Children, Defense for Children International and Plan International to promote and protect children’s rights, above all to lobby for the implementation of the National Child Rights Act (2007).
- War Child has been affiliated to the relevant Government Ministries and has actively collaborated with the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs on child protection issues and in the roll out of the National Child Rights Act.
- War Child has been an active member of the Life Skills Working Group – a platform of NGOs (e.g. IRC, CRS, AMNET, SPW, Right to Play and GOAL) pursuing common terminology, partnership and exchange.
- War Child has been a member of the Livelihood Forum, which focuses on exchange and sharing of experience between (inter)national organizations that work in the livelihood sector.
- War Child celebrated World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse as part of an International NGO partnership network launched by the Women's World Summit Foundation.
