War Child in Sierra Leone
War Child has been active in Sierra Leone since 2001. In 2003, a community-based programme was introduced, which aims to address the psychosocial needs of children and youth by helping to rebuild peaceful child-friendly communities through a variety of creative, recreational and cultural activities. The primary target group is children and youth, however, the programme involves a variety of individuals within the community, all of which play a significant role in the lives of children and youth. The focus is to get stakeholders within the communities to recognize the role, rights and needs of children and youth and to act accordingly.
