Meet Marah (19)

Marah is one of thousands of young people who escaped the war in Syria to seek refuge in Germany. Backed by our Voice Your Mind campaign, she’s determined to speak out...

“It doesn’t matter what people say, what they do or what they want - you are the hero of your story.”

What we do

War Child Germany was born in 2020 - quickly establishing a lively hub in Hamburg.

Our programme works to give refugee children and youth a voice - and help them get to grips with life in a new country. Music, sport and art form the basis of our activities - uniting children through a shared love of creativity.

Through local events and actions, we also raise funds for our international programmes. This sees us work with a network of famous friends and ambassadors including German rock band Revolverheld and actress Julia Stinshoff.

    Berlin and Hamburg

With this unique psychosocial support intervention we offer refugee children and young people between the ages of 6 and 18 structured sport, play and movement-based activities. During the non-verbal sessions, they are supported to release stress, gain a sense of safety and pass this feeling on to others.
