What we do
War Child Germany was born in 2020 - quickly establishing a lively hub in Hamburg.
Our programme works to give refugee children and youth a voice - and help them get to grips with life in a new country. Music, sport and art form the basis of our activities - uniting children through a shared love of creativity.
Through local events and actions, we also raise funds for our international programmes. This sees us work with a network of famous friends and ambassadors including German rock band Revolverheld and actress Julia Stinshoff.
Where we work
WAR CHILD PROJECTS
COVID-19 Emergency Response
Berlin and beyond
Initiated within weeks of the first COVID-19 case, our response sees children and families at refugee shelters in Germany’s major cities take part in arts and crafts, online mindfulness exercises and much more.
Dare to Dream
From graffiti workshops with local artists to the fast-growing War Child Soccer Camp, refugee children and youth are invited to explore their talents and future career dreams. A joint initiative with local partners including German professional football club FC St. Pauli.
Voice Your Mind
Hamburg and globally
A one-of-a-kind youth advocacy programme. Through online seminars, workshops and leadership training, conflict-affected youth from around the globe develop the personal and professional skills to become changemakers in their communities.
