MEET AMAL (15)

Every day, like most teenagers, Amal walks to school. The difference - she has to cross a network of military checkpoints. Find out how she is pushing fear aside in pursuit of a better future...

“I know our situation is unlike any other. I claim my right to learn - no matter what.”

What We Do

War Child works in the most vulnerable areas of the occupied Palestinian territory. We collaborate with local expert NGOs, community-based organisations and government bodies to protect children from harm and support their psychosocial wellbeing.

Through our holistic and integrated approach, we work to improve access to mental health, remedial education and child protection services for conflict-affected children. We specifically target adolescent girls and children with trauma and focus on strategies to resolve interpersonal conflict.

We train community members - particularly young people and educators - to equip children with the skills to cope with life amidst violence and occupation. We also support parents and caregivers - strengthening their resilience and ability to provide nurturing family environments.

And whenever we see that children’s rights are violated - no matter by whom - we speak out, working closely with duty-bearers to prevent further violations.
