Thursday November 21 saw the University of Amsterdam host a special lecture to mark the inauguration of the War Child Holland academic chair. The event saw Professor Mark Jordans - our Director of Research and Development - examine potential paths towards improving the mental health of children in situations of deprivation and armed conflict.

The special lecture - Improving the Mental Health of Children in Conflict-Affected and Low-Resource Settings: Children’s Steps to Leaps Forward - marked the inauguration of a new Chair in Global Child and Adolescent Mental Health at the University of Amsterdam, designated on behalf of War Child.

Mark has specialised in psychosocial and mental health care - with a particular focus on children in adversities - throughout his academic career. He also serves as a Reader in Child and Adolescent Mental Health at King’s College London.

The day’s events concluded with a programme of world music and networking drinks.
