Protection of Children Affected by Armed Conflict in Fizi Territory

This project is designed to promote the protection of children and young people affected by armed conflict from violence, exploitation, neglect and abuse in their communities in South Kivu.

In July and August 2013, Fizi registered 31 per cent of the total number of child protection incidents in South Kivu, largely caused by frequent confrontations between the Congolese army and local armed groups.

The project works to strengthen community-based child protection mechanisms in order to prevent (and respond to) violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect. Activities include education, protection and psychosocial support activities delivered in Child Friendly Spaces, complemented by recreational activities.
