What we do
War Child has been active in DR Congo since 2003. We work primarily in South Kivu province in eastern DRC and recently expanded our activities to the neighbouring province of Maniema, in the territory of Kabambare.
Together with our international and local partners we work to improve the future prospects of children and youth from refugee and displaced populations as well as those from host communities.
Through psychosocial support, we help children and youth overcome trauma. Our vocational and life skills training equips young people with the tools to attract employment, handle life's challenges and support one another. We also set up youth groups where key issues in the community - such as the exploitation of natural resources and sexual violence - are brought to the table.

Emergency Education Response
This project aims to meet the needs of children at risk of dropping out of school due to conflicts and natural disasters by guaranteeing their retention and school completion.
A safe space for the most vulnerable children
Through protection, reunification and reintegration services, this emergency project seeks to support some of the most vulnerable children in the country - including children associated with armed groups, unaccompanied children and survivors of gender-based violence as well as children affected by recent conflicts in the Kalehe territory.
Emergency response to the needs of vulnerable households and individuals
Salamabila and Kabambare, Maniema (Kabambare territory)
This multi-sectoral response sets out to strengthen the resilience of girls and boys affected by protection incidents linked to the humanitarian crisis in the Maniema province. We do this through widening access to vital protection services and raising awareness to support communities to create a protective bubble around children.
